Chinese car maker Zeekr has announced its entry into the European market with two new electric models. The Zeekr 001 and X will make their debut on the continent later this year. Read on for all you need to know.

Zeekr has announced its entry to Europe with the 001 executive car and the X SUV. These new electric cars will go on sale in Sweden and the Netherlands in the Autumn.
The new EVs will expand to other countries at a later date. It’s not yet been confirmed if Zeekr will come to the UK, however the brand has not ruled it out.
New Zeekr 001 and Zeekr X design
Let’s start with the 001. Zeekr calls it a “luxury shooting brake”, which is a fancy way of saying it’s a four door estate car with a sloping, coupe-esque roofline.
Up front you have a pair of sleek LED headlights which are neatly blended into a black trim strip. The more rounded lights on the bonnet are actually your daytime running lights.
You have a two-tone paint scheme with a contrasting black roof, as well as flush-fitting door handles. The rear is dominated by a funky-looking light bar, which looks similar to the one found on the Lexus UX.
Moving on to the Zeekr X SUV, it’s got a more jacked-up ride height than the 001. It has a more rounded bonnet than that car as well, with a more prominent front grille.
Down the side you have a similar two-tone paint scheme to the 001, but this SUV gets some chunky-looking black trim around the wheel arches. At the rear you have quite a narrow rear window and a roof spoiler, lending this SUV a slightly more sporty appearance than something like a Volkswagen ID.4, and the angular light bar stands out as well.
New Zeekr 001 and Zeekr X range and performance
No specifics have been revealed for the Zeekr 001 or X in terms of motors and batteries, however there is a range figure for both of these cars.
The Zeekr 001 has a claimed range of around 370 miles, while the Zeekr X will do 273 miles on a charge. Keep in mind though that neither of these cars has been officially homologated yet, so these figures could change.
As for performance, both of these cars are available with either a single motor and rear-wheel-drive, or dual motors with all-wheel-drive.
No performance numbers have been announced for the single motor versions of these cars, however the dual-motor Zeekr 001 will have 544hp. This is enough to launch it from 0-60mph in 3.8 seconds, which is 0.8 of a second slower than the Tesla Model 3 Performance.
As for the Zeekr X SUV, the dual motor version has 476hp and will accelerate from 0-60mph in 3.7 seconds, just slightly slower than the Tesla Model Y Performance.
When can you buy the new Zeekr 001 and Zeekr X?
The new Zeekr 001 and Zeekr X will initially be offered in Sweden and the Netherlands, with sales starting in the Autumn. Zeekr will expand to other countries at a later date.
Neither of these cars have been confirmed for the UK, however Zeekr haven’t ruled it out. If the brand does come to our shores, you can expect sales to start at some point in 2024.
