Magical motors Harry Potter characters would drive

November 16, 2016 by

If you had magic powers, would you use them to spruce up your tired looking family hatchback into something a little more supernatural? We sure would. With J.K. Rowling’s latest film – ‘Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them’ – in cinemas, we wondered what kind of magical motors characters from the world of Harry Potter would drive.

Which of these enchanted cars would you be happy to have hovering above your driveway? Let us know in the comment section below or on our facebook and twitter pages.

Ferharry Testapotter

Harry Potter + Ferrari Testarossa

The Ferrari Testarossa was never the most attractive supercar and a pair of special headlight-focusing lenses on Harry’s bespoke model hasn’t really helped. A bright red and gold Gryffindor paint job looks suitably splendid, however, while a special invisibility car cover lets him slink away unnoticed from the looming peril of an approaching death-eater – or a traffic warden. Unfortunately, no spells could protect the windscreen from a rather nasty crack.

Granger Rover

Hermione Granger + Range Rover Evoque

The Range Rover Evoque might be a compact SUV but it still packs a fairly impressive punch – not unlike Hermione Granger. Her uniquely modified example looks the part thanks to a unique Yule Ball gown pink paintjob and MUGG LYF personalised number plate but she’s had to fit a specially designed roof rack to carry her personal library of books. Thankfully, there’s still room inside to hang a pair of boxing gloves on the rear-view mirror.

Renault Weasley

Ron Weasley + Renault Grand Scenic

Thanks to a few supernatural tweaks, Ron’s Renault Grand Scenic is as happy to take to the air as his dad’s aging Ford Anglia. A few special Weasley touches including a bright orange roof, G1NGR PRYD number plate and enough room inside for the whole family complete this unassuming MPVs magical makeover.

Volvo Malfoy

Draco Malfoy + Volvo S90

Is there any car more suited to spoilt daddy’s boy Draco than a brand new Volvo S90 – especially with bleach blonde paintwork and a grossly oversized Slytherin coats of arms plastered across the bonnet? The latest addition to Volvo’s impressive list of safety features includes, in Draco’s case, a decal on the rear left side that turns jet black to alert him of approaching noseless dark wizards.

Dumble-four-door

Albus Dumbledore + Suzuki Liana

Pairing the great Albus Dumbledore with a humble Suzuki Liana may seem odd, but this pensioner-friendly saloon is the very same car Michael Gambon famously drove on two wheels on Top Gear all those years ago. A set of half-moon headlight covers, gold paint to match his robe and jauntily angled fez make this unassuming four-door the perfect grocery-getter for Dumbledore on his days off voicing TV ads for carwow.

Ute Scamander

Newt Scamander + Vauxhall Maloo Ute

Newt Scamander – star of Fantastic Beast and Where to Find Them – needs a car that’ll be tough enough to handle the worst a myriad of mythical animals can throw at it. The Vauxhall Maloo is a high-powered Australian-built ute that not only has the power to outrun the most vicious Peruvian Vipertooth, but has more than enough room in the back to store an ever-growing collection of unruly monsters. Couple this with an upgraded creature-seeking sat nav and you’ve the perfect machine for a Magizoologist on the go.

Ford Voldemort

Lord Voldemort + Ford Mustang Convertible

It’s not just the grey colour and ‘aerodynamic’ nose that link Voldemort to his customised Ford Mustang Convertible, but a host of special features, too. A sat-nav that relays directions only in Parseltongue, numerous snake badges and a canvas roof made of leftover fabric from Professor Quirrell’s turban make this a fearsome V8 monster you’ll not want to bump into in a dark alley.

Cerberus Snape

Severus Snape + TVR Cerbera

If there’s a better car for Hogwarts’ menacing potions master than a sinister TVR Cerbera, we can’t think of it. Not only does Snape’s personalised version come with a cloak-matching matt-black paintjob, but it can dispense enough grease from its oily undersides to keep his hair looking suitably slicked-back 24/7. An additional magic touch is the rear-mounted potion rack complete with downforce-inducing test tubes.

Ruprius Hybrid

Rubeus Hagrid + Toyota Prius hybrid

Is there any other car Rubeus Hagrid – the animal-loving Hogwarts groundskeeper – would drive than an environmentally friendly Toyota Prius? Unfortunately, once the half giant and his dog, Fang, have squeezed themselves onboard there’s no room left for his famous pink umbrella so a door-mounted holster keeps it to hand instead.

Doblo the House Elf

Dobby the House Elf + Fiat Doblo

Since being freed, Dobby keeps his lucky sock safely sellotaped to the windscreen of his Fiat Doblo. A pair of extra large wing mirrors and bright green headlights – to match his eyes – also make an appearance while the glovebox has been specially adapted to hold the rest of the free house elf’s sock collection. Another unique feature is his car’s ability to apparate into even the tightest parking spaces at the click of his fingers.
