Ora’s new saloon car has finally been given a name for the UK, the 07, and it’ll go on sale this year. Read on for all you need to know.

  • New Ora 07 on sale in 2024
  • Expected to cost from around £40,000
  • Retro-designed electric saloon car
  • Over 300 miles of range
  • 400hp and 680Nm of torque

Chinese marque Ora will be launching its second model to the UK this year, called the 07. This electric saloon car will provide a slightly left-field alternative to cars such as the Hyundai Ioniq 6 and Tesla Model 3.

It comes as Ora re-thinks its naming strategy, with the Funky Cat name being dropped in favour of 03 for its small hatchback.

New Ora electric saloon given the name 07

After leaving us all in suspense for the last few months, Ora has finally given its new electric saloon a name. It won’t be called the Lightning Cat, as it is in China, instead adopting the name 07.

The brand has recently re-thought is naming structure in the UK, with the Funky Cat also being put down and given the name 03 from January 2024. The new 07 saloon is expected to make its debut early next year, with prices predicted to start from around £40,000. This puts it directly in line with the Tesla Model 3 and Hyundai Ioniq 6.

New Ora 07 electric saloon design

You’re not going to mistake the Ora 07 for any other EV on the market thanks to a distinctive, retro inspired design. You could say it looks as though someone has overfed the Funky Cat, because it takes a lot of design cues from that car.

The small circular headlights ape those of its smaller stablemate, and the bumper has a smoothed-off design with no fake vents in sight. You do get a honeycomb pattern on the grille to break things up a bit, and there are some slim air intakes to cool the batteries.

Stand really far away from the 07 and squint, and you might see hints of the Porsche Panamera in the side profile. It has a similar sloping roofline to that car, and the flush-fitting door handles help keep things looking sleek.

The rear end is just as rounded as the front, with some circular taillights adding to the slightly retro vibe. There’s plenty of chrome as well, and the word Ora is spelled out across the tailgate.

New Ora 07 electric saloon motors and batteries

You’ll be able to order the new Ora 07 with either rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive, the latter getting 400hp and 680Nm of torque. That’s enough shove to launch it from 0-60mph in 4.4 seconds, 0.2 of a second slower than a Tesla Model 3 Long Range but ever so slightly quicker than the Hyundai Ioniq 6.

While UK specs are yet to be announced, this car has been on sale in China since 2022. In that market it has an 83kWh battery with 373 miles of range. It wouldn’t be a shock then if the 07 comes with a similar set of numbers on our shores.

New Ora 07 electric saloon interior

The interior of Ora’s new saloon car has a more upmarket and premium look than the Funky Cat’s cabin. There’s plenty of silver trim around the place, along with a lot of synthetic leather.

The tall centre console tunnel makes it look like a pretty sporty place to be, and sat atop the dash is a large touchscreen infotainment system. Below this is you’ll find some dials for the climate controls, as well as some handy shortcut buttons.
