Toyota’s newest coupe – the 2019 Toyota Supra – was supposed to be first announced in mid-January, but the internet has had other ideas. The online world has been a repeated thorn in the manufacturer’s side, first unveiling a spy image of the new car in transit in December 2018 before this latest leak – promotional images from Toyota Germany.
In the two new pictures, the 2019 Toyota Supra – which draws heavily from Toyota’s 2014 FT-1 concept – is visible from a near-360-degree angle, revealing cooling vents in the sides and rear, as well as a sporty dual-exhaust system.
These images – made public by forum SupraMKV.com – follow on from the December photo supplied by Facebook page Ferde, which first revealed highlights like a double-bubble roof, Le Mans-style front end and bright-shining LED headlights.
Combining revelations new and old, it’s obvious that the 2019 Toyota Supra has been designed to look as motorsport-inspired as possible. Not only does the roof mean you and your passenger can wear crash helmets, but the numerous vents and exhausts, and that curving bonnet, result in a design that clearly has aerodynamics in mind. The numberplates reveal the 2019 Toyota Supra to be a part of Toyota’s sporty “GR” – or Gazoo Racing – sub-brand, which has been tasked with appealing to enthusiasts, fittingly launched with the brilliant Toyota Yaris GRMN
