Why should you consider a Volkswagen ID3?
The Volkswagen ID3 is a mid-sized hatchback and the entry point to Volkswagen’s EV range. Its tall, slightly MPV-like shape, short bonnet, and big wheels make it distinctive, while the facelift improved interior quality and removed outdated rear decals.
Inside, the cabin is minimalist, with a 12.9-inch touchscreen and touch-sensitive steering wheel controls replacing most buttons. This can be fiddly, but the tall interior offers good head- and legroom, a flat floor, and plenty of glass for an airy feel. Battery and motor options range from the 240-mile ‘Pure’ up 370 miles in the sporty, performance-focused GTX.
All ID3s are rear-wheel drive and feel solid and accurate, though larger wheels make bumps more noticeable. Higher-spec models accelerate well, but the driving experience is generally neutral and safe rather than thrilling.
