Used BMW i5 Touring: Save £35,000 on This Luxurious Electric Estate
May 19, 2025 by Jamie Edkins

Car changing is a big deal
It was highly commended in the 2025 Carwow Car Of The Year Awards for being a comfortable cruiser, and it has a massive boot.
This is the BMW i5 Touring – a big, posh electric estate car which makes for a great family wagon. The only fly in the ointment is the price, which starts at a hefty £70,000 and can easily climb well north of £100,000.
If that puts you off, don’t despair just yet. A quick look at used examples on Carwow revealed a huge saving if you’re willing to sacrifice that new car feeling.
Used BMW i5 Touring prices and specs
I found a late 2024 BMW i5 Touring with 9,500 miles on the clock for £52,990. It’s a rear-wheel drive M Sport Pro model, meaning it would’ve cost you over £88,000 when it was new – so you’re saving over £35,000.

But what makes the i5 Touring worth buying? Well for starters it’s one of the most comfortable EVs around. It’s nearly silent on the motorway and the suspension simply glides over bumps in the road.

It’s packed with tech as well. All cars get a twin screen setup – a 12.3-inch digital driver’s display and a 14.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system – as well as a Harmon Kardon sound system and heated front seats. This being the M Sport Pro, you also get a more aggressive-looking bodykit, 20-inch alloy wheels and a panoramic glass roof.

The eDrive 40, it has a single electric motor powering the rear wheels with 340hp – so it’s plenty fast enough for most people’s needs. You also get 356 miles of range, which is decent but still some way off the 435 miles you can get from an Audi A6 Avant e-tron.

Sadly, some of the optional extras on the i5 are a bit mean for a car this pricey. You don’t get adaptive cruise control for example, something the dinky Toyota Aygo X gets as standard. You can add this feature over the air if you want by paying for it on the BMW app, but really it should be included on an £88,000 electric car.

Stingy options aside though, the BMW i5 Touring is a great electric estate car which is comfortable, spacious and really well-made, and it’s even better value when you buy second hand.
BMW i5 Touring alternatives
Not sold on the BMW i5 Touring? Here are a few alternatives to consider.
Audi A6 Avant e-tron

Lovely to drive and really impressive range, but it’s not quite as practical as other electric estate cars, including the i5 Touring.
Kia EV9

A brand-new range-topping EV9 can be yours for the same price as a basic i5 Touring, and it’s a much bigger and more practical car. It’s just not quite as refined as the BMW.
BMW iX

BMW’s flagship EV has a stunning interior and loads of clever driver assistance tech, but the boot isn’t as big as the i5 Touring’s.
