Drag race: New BMW M3 Touring Vs Audi RS6 Avant

The new BMW M3 Touring is finally here, so of course we’ve got in on the drag strip. But can it give a car from the class above a run for its money? 

Mat’s behind the wheel of the M3 Touring today. Under the bonnet is a 3.0-litre twin-turbocharged straight-six with 510hp and 650Nm of torque driving all four wheels via an eight-speed automatic gearbox. The BMW weighs in at 1,865kg, and it costs £85,465.

That’s a lot cheaper than the Audi RS6 it’s going up against, that car costs £112,650. Then again it is from the class above, under the bonnet is a 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 with 600hp and 800Nm of torque. This is sent to all four wheels via an eight speed automatic gearbox, and the Audi tips the scales at 2,075kg.
