Drag race: Bugatti EB110 vs Ferrari F40

Mat’s taken the helm of the Bugatti EB110 for this drag race. Mounted behind him is a 3.5-litre V12 with four turbochargers strapped to it, making 560hp and 610Nm of torque. This is sent to all four wheels via a six-speed manual gearbox, and this supercar weighs in at 1,690kg. Back in 1994 when this car rolled out of the showroom, someone parted with £285,000 for this car. Today though, it’s valued at a whopping £1.5 million.

Lined up next to it is a Ferrari F40 from 1998. It’s powered by a 2.9-litre twin-turbocharged V8 with 480hp and 580Nm of torque, sent to just the rear wheels via a five-speed manual gearbox. It may be down on power compared to the Bugatti, but it’s also down on weight tipping the scales at 1,350kg. New, this car cost some lucky buyer £163,000. To buy one today you’ll have to part with closer to £2 million.
