  • New Volkswagen ID.7 GTX teased
  • Performance version of electric saloon
  • More aggressive styling details
  • Dual motors and all-wheel-drive
  • May have as much as 340hp
  • Could go on sale by the end of 2023

The new Volkswagen ID.7 was revealed a few weeks ago, and the hot GTX version has already been teased.

This alternative to the Tesla Model 3 Performance and Polestar 2 will have more aggressive styling, as well as dual motors and all-wheel-drive.

New Volkswagen ID.7 GTX design

Volkswagen has only teased a couple of design details on the new ID.7 GTX, however you can get a pretty good idea of what it’ll look like based on the standard car (pictured above).

One element which has been teased is the more aggressive lower front bumper. It appears to have a honeycomb grille, a lot like the one on the Volkswagen ID.5 GTX, as well as some additional vents in front of the wheels.

The headlights also look as though they’ve been given a tweaked daytime running light design. Volkswagen has also shown a close up of the rear light cluster. It looks similar to the standard ID.7’s light bar, however it may tweak this as well.

Expect to see some added side skirts and a deeper rear bumper, as well as some new, lager alloy wheels.

New Volkswagen ID.7 GTX motors and batteries

The new Volkswagen ID.7 GTX will have dual motors and all-wheel drive, as opposed to the single motor setup in the standard car.

Exact power figures haven’t been revealed yet, however it’s likely to be similar to the 340hp found in the recently revealed Cupra Tavascan.

Battery-wise, this performance variant will likely use the larger 86kWh battery from the ID.7 Pro S. In the standard car this yields 435 miles of range, however this more powerful version may drop down to the 400 mile mark.

When will the Volkswagen ID.7 GTX get a full reveal?

The new Volkswagen ID.7 GTX will be revealed in full in late 2023, but pricing still remains a mystery.

You can expect this sporty new EV to be priced similarly to the ID.5 GTX, so around £55,000.
