Drag race: Porsche Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid vs Nismo GT-R vs Audi RS6

May 27, 2021 by

Which of these all-wheel-drive heavyweights has the measure in a drag race? Watch to find out…

If there’s one thing big, brutal, heavyweight all-wheel-drive performance cars are good at, it’s getting off the line quickly – something Mat’ll put to the test in carwow’s latest drag race.

The Porsche Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid has a 4.0-litre V8 engine linked up to an electric motor, so it has 700hp and 870Nm of torque on tap. A combination of instant torque from the electric motor and hard-hitting performance from the V8 at higher revs means this Porsche delivers immediate shove no matter what speed you’re going at.

But what if you prefer your performance brute as an estate? Well, there’s always Audi’s ruthlessly fast RS6…

It’s not quite as powerful as the Panamera – with its 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 puts out ‘just’ 600hp and 800Nm, though it does have a weight advantage. It tips the scales at 2,075kg, compared with Porsche’s 2,350kg.

If you don’t need to carry wardrobes around that often, the Nissan GT-R may be more up your street. Or, if you’re feeling seriously brave, you might consider the Nismo model.

Its 3.8-litre twin-turbo V6 engine dumps out 600hp and 652Nm. That’s less than the RS6, but the Nismo is the lightest of today’s trio. It weighs 1,745kg.

But, which of these big brutes comes out on top, though? Well, you’ll need to watch the video to find out…
