Drag race: Kia Stinger GT S vs Volkswagen Arteon R

October 20, 2021 by

First up we have the Kia Stinger GT S. Unlike any other Kia you’ve ever seen, this one has a 3.3 litre V6 with two turbochargers. This means it puts out 366hp and 510nm of torque, which is fed to the rear wheels only via an eight-speed automatic transmission. It is the heavier of the two cars we have today, coming in at 1,855kg.

The Volkswagen Arteon R tips the scales at 1,800kg, over 110kg less than the Kia. This combined with the all-wheel-drive system may give the Arteon an advantage off the line. It does lack power compared to the Korean competition, however, as its 2.0-litre turbocharged engine has 320hp and 420nm of torque.

So this really is a battle of power vs lightness, but which will come out on top? You’ll have to watch the video to find out.
