Drag race: Porsche 918 Spyder vs tuned Honda Integra Type R

Mat’s behind the wheel of the Porsche 918 Spyder today. Mounted behind him is a 4.6-litre naturally-aspirated V8 engine, but it’s assisted by two electric motors. Combined, they put out 887hp and 1,280Nm of torque. This is sent to all four wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox, and the Porsche tips the scales at 1,700kg. As for the price, it’s currently worth around £1.4 million.

Let’s say you want something a bit less expensive. How about a DC5 Honda Integra Type R from 2002? Obviously this isn’t just any Integra, that would be a bit unfair. As standard, the car has a 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine with 220hp, but this one has been given a massive turbocharger. As a result, it now puts out a whopping 922hp. This car has also been converted to all-wheel-drive, and it has a sequential gearbox. It’s hard to put an exact price on this car, but it’s somewhere north of £70,000.
