Lister Stealth vs BMW X6M Competition drag race

January 28, 2021 by

The Lister Stealth is a pumped-up version of the Jaguar F-Pace SVR that Lister claims is the world’s fastest SUV. To find out if that’s true, Mat’s lined it up against a BMW X6M Competition in carwow’s latest drag race.

Tap the video to watch the race.

A standard Jaguar F-Pace SVR is a seriously fast SUV – thanks in no small part to its supercharged 5.0-litre V8 with 550hp and 700Nm of torque. But, this Stealth is in a different league…

It comes with revised air intakes, a new exhaust, a smaller supercharger pully (which, counterintuitively, helps it make more power) and an engine ECU tune. As a result, the Lister-tuned SUV produces 675hp and a massive 881Nm of torque.

Just like the standard F-Pace SVR, the Stealth comes with four-wheel drive and an eight-speed automatic gearbox. The carbon-fibre bodykit and huge alloys are Lister exclusives, however.

The BMW X6 M might not be quite as exclusive as the Stealth, but it’s no less imposing – just look at the size of that bonnet.

It’s not all show and no go, though, because under that vast nose sits a 4.4-litre twin-turbocharged V8 with 625hp and 750Nm of torque. That’s the same as you get in a BMW M5 Competition.

Also like that car, the X6M Competition sends its power to all four wheels through an eight-speed automatic gearbox with launch control. This should help the 2,375kg X6 M Competition get off the line quickly, but you can bet the 2,050kg Lister will be no slouch either – despite not having a fancy launch-control system.

And it’s not just the performance stats that see these cars closely matched – both will set you back an equally hefty amount of cash, too. The BMW X6M Competition costs from £113,000 while parking a Lister Stealth on your drive will lighten your wallet by £120,000.

But which should you buy? Well, if quarter-mile drag-race times are your main buying criteria, then there’s only one way to find out…
