The Audi RS6 and the Tesla Model 3 are at opposite ends of the spectrum. One is a petrol-guzzling performance-focused estate car and the other is a fossil-fuel-fighting electric saloon but what they do have in common is that they are both very quick off the line. Time for a drag race, don’t you think?

Let’s look at the Audi RS6 first. It’s a roomy and comfortable estate car that happens to pack a twin-turbo, 4.0-litre V8 petrol engine under the bonnet, churning out a blistering 600hp and 800Nm.
An eight-speed automatic gearbox divvies out the power to its quattro four-wheel-drive system, to help it muster as much grip as possible. But, it’s a proper heavyweight, busting the scales at 2075kg. It also comes with a premium price tag – you’ll be looking at handing voer more than £95,000 to park one on your driveway.
In Tesla’s corner, and representing the world of EVs, is the Model 3 Performance. The practical electric saloon boasts some impressive stats on paper, thanks to its dual electric motors that deliver 490hp and 660Nm of torque to all four wheels. Surprisingly, the car is lighter than the RS6, despite its heavy battery packs. It weighs 1847kg.
Another plus point for the Model 3 is the price. Often electric cars can be more expensive than their fossil-fuelled counterparts, but you can pick up a Model 3 for around £56,500.
So, which one will win in a drag race?
