If you want something seriously fast, yet capable of carrying a whole family, you have a choice of wildly different cars – just take the Audi RS6 and Tesla Model X Performance we have here…
First is the humble old performance estate car — something once sensible, now stuffed with a ridiculous engine.
The new recipe in town is the ever-more-common electric SUV. Though these don’t tend to be built for sheer performance, the nature of electric power means they have instant torque and enough punch to scare supercars.
Which of the two is the one to have for say, a drag race then? Well, today’s video has two pretty strong contenders to decide.
Representing the old school is the latest Audi RS6. Powered by a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8, it sends 600hp and 800Nm of torque to all four wheels through an eight-speed automatic gearbox.
Its estate body shape means that it’s quite weighty at 2,075kg, but looks featherweight compared to its competition today…
Of course, it’s a Tesla Model X Performance to fly the flag for electric power. Using two motors, one on each axle, it produces 778hp and 1,140Nm of torque. So it’ll dominate the RS6 in the power stakes, but it’s much heavier still at 2,485kg.
Which of these practical and punchy cars will come out on top? Well, you’ll need to watch to find out…
