Smart build the fortwo, the tiny city car that has all but gone out of fashion now after promising great things initially. Owned by Mercedes, Smart originally aimed to re-invent the motorcar as a small, highly efficient, lightweight car that was powered by a tiny engine and was easy to drive and park in a city.
They managed to achieve this with the fortwo and the forfour but forgot that most people need a car that can tackle longer journeys too, something that neither car was very good at.
The fortwo soldiers on as a coupe and cabriolet but is utterly outclassed by other cars that do the same job, but much better. They get poor reviews from the experts and have a low buzzScore as a result.
