Drag race: Porsche 918 Spyder vs Ferrari SF90 Stradale
February 23, 2024 by Jamie Edkins
Mat’s dived behind the wheel of the Porsche 918 Spyder for this drag race. Mounted behind his right ear is a 4.6-litre naturally aspirated V8, and it’s paired to an electric motor on the front axle to make a combined 887hp and 1,280Nm of torque. This is sent to all four wheels via a seven-speed automatic gearbox. This 918 is a Weissach Pack model, and that means it’s around 20kg lighter than the standard car at 1,634kg. It also makes this late 2016 car more desirable, and therefore more expensive costing around £1.3m.
Lining up next to the Porsche is Sam in the Ferrari SF90 Stradale. It’s more powerful than the 918 thanks to its 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine and three electric motors. Combined, they put out 1,000hp and 800Nm of torque. This is sent to all four wheels via an eight-speed automatic gearbox, and the Ferrari tips the scales at 1,570kg. It’s also around £1m cheaper than the Porsche at £376,000.
So which is these insane hybrids will take the crown today? You’ll have to watch the video to find out.
