If you want to go off roading on a budget, you’re pretty spoiled for choice right now. But which is the best low-cost mud plugger?
First to face this challenge is the Lada Niva. It has a 1.7-litre naturally-aspirated petrol engine with 85hp and 130Nm of torque. It also has a two-stage low-range mode for the gearbox and a central locking differential. The Lada tips the scales at 1,285kg.
Next up, we have the Suzuki Jimny. It has a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine with 101hp and 130nm of torque. It’s usually rear-wheel-drive but can be locked in four-wheel-drive with a low range mode as well.
Finally, let’s take a look at the Dacia Duster. It has a 1.5-litre turbo-diesel engine with 115hp and 260nm of torque. It’s usually front wheel drive, however at the push of a button you can select four-wheel-drive.
So which will come out on top in this series of off road challenges? You’ll have to watch the video to find out.
