Find out more about the Hyundai i30 Tourer
As capable as it might be, the Hyundai i30 Tourer is one of those cars that people have no clue what it’s called as it drives past, or if you take them out in it they “would never have guessed it would be this nice”.
To try to counteract this ambivalence, this new i30 Tourer has more kit, updated looks inside and out, and electrified 48-volt Hybrid engines.
First of all, you’ll see the new, slimmer headlamps with optional multifaceted reflector MFR LED technology and new V-shaped signature LED daytime running lights at the front. New-style alloy wheels complete the exterior updates.
The all-electrified powertrain line-up comprises a 120hp 1.0 turbocharged GDi 48-volt hybrid engine or a 136hp 1.6 CRDi 48-volt hybrid engine. Both are available with either a six-speed manual transmission or optional seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.
It might not be as plush inside as a Golf Estate, but the i30 Tourer looks more exciting and comes crammed with standard kit
The SmartSense safety package has been improved, with standard lane-keep assist, autonomous emergency braking with Front Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA) and tyre-pressure monitoring. You can pay extra for Lane-Following Assist (LFA), Rear Collision-avoidance Assist (RCA), Leading Vehicle Departure Alert (LVDA), high-beam assist, and speed-limit and blindspot warning systems.
Hyundai has merged the previous i30’s three basic trim levels into one, called SE Connect. The SE Connect offers exterior equipment including 16-inch alloy wheels, automatic headlamps with integrated LED daytime running lamps, front foglamps and electric folding door mirrors. Enhanced interior equipment includes an 8-inch touchscreen display audio with subscription-free Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and a rear view camera, Bluetooth with voice recognition, front and rear electric windows, air conditioning, rear parking sensors and new design cloth interior.
The new i30 Premium adds 17-inch alloy wheels, LED headlamps and tail lamps, puddle lamps and privacy glass, whilst interior specification receives an all-new 7in supervision instrument cluster, a 10.25in touchscreen navigation system with upgraded Hyundai’s Bluelink telematics system, automatic wipers and dual-zoneclimate control, plus an electrically adjustable driver’s seat, heated front seats, heated steering wheel, electric parking brake, front parking sensors, cloth and leather seat trim, a wireless charging pad for compatible devices and an automatically dimming rear view mirror and keyless entry with engine start/stop button.
The new i30 is the first Hyundai model to introduce the upgraded Bluelink telematics system and features a new user interface which offers a range of GPS-based information to aid drivers, including the current speed of the vehicle and information about traffic density.
With a new cloud-based Connected Routing navigation system, driving routes are calculated on a server inside the Bluelink cloud environment.
