Three of the hottest electric cars on sale face off in today’s drag race. Watch to find out which charges ahead of the pack…
If there’s one thing to love about electric cars, it’s their ability to pin you back in your seat and rip your face off with sheer acceleration.
Their ability to deliver torque instantly means they come off the line very well, and can put up a real fight against even the most high end of supercars. Take that time Mat raced a Tesla Model S against a Lamborghini Aventador, for example.
But which of the current EV crop is the king of the strip? Well, we’ve put together three of the most fancied electric cars that you can buy today to find out.
We’ll hone in on the Audi, first. The RS e-tron GT is equipped with two motors, one on each axle, giving it all-wheel drive. It has 646hp and 830Nm of torque as a result, though weighs in at a fairly hefty 2,340kg.
Under the skin, the Porsche Taycan is near-enough identical to the RS e-tron GT. It uses the same dual-motor setup, albeit with a bit more power at 687hp and 850Nm of torque. It does weigh 40kg more than the Audi, though.
Rounding out the trio is the ever-conquering Tesla Model S Performance. It has more power than both of the German cars, with 778hp and 1,140Nm on tap, and weighs less too at 2,316kg.
Stats alone would suggest the Model S has the edge here then, but does that play out in reality? Well, you’ll have to watch the race to find out…
